約700年前、ビザンティン帝国の第2の都市として栄えた中世城塞都市遺跡
山の斜面に沿って建ち並ぶ美しい街並みと、ルネサンスの先駆けとなったフレスコ画が世界遺産に登録されている
標高624mの山頂には城が築かれ、その麓から徐々に下っていくように、宮殿や修道院、住居などが点在している
また、ミストラ遺跡には、ルネサンスの先駆けとなったフレスコ画が数多く残されている
