「かち鳥もち」は、地元住民のみならず、観光客からも絶大な人気を博している。
国産のもち米で作った一口大のもちと群馬県産の鶏肉を交互に串に刺し、揚げた後に特製の甘めの醤油ダレをからめた一品。
外はカリカリ、中はもちもちとした食感の揚げ鳥と揚げもちのハーモニーが絶妙で、甘辛いタレが食欲をそそる。
4種類の粉を配合して冷めても固くならないように工夫されたもちと、群馬県産の鶏肉の組み合わせは、まさに新町ならではの味と言える。
